A headache is pain arising anywhere in the head or neck.

Headache, Migraine, Tension Headache
Common types of headache include Migraine, Tension Headaches, Sinus Pain and Facial/Jaw Pain arising from the Tempo-Mandibular Joint.

There are numerous causes for headaches, ranging from every day muscular tension, stress, bruxing/grinding teeth, food allergies, vascular changes with migraines, poor posture and the overuse of painkillers.

The brain itself is not sensitive to pain, but the structures surrounding the brain, such as blood vessels and meningeal membranes are. The muscles in the head, neck and shoulders also refer pain to the head.

Osteopathic treatment can often help with headaches.
